THE MAGNETS NAKED 80S - ADELAIDE FRINGE REVIEW

Scaled naked 80s

The ultimate 80s party has landed at the Fringe! As someone who lives for big hair, clashing colours and power ballads... the 80s is the era I think I would have been most comfortable in as a teen groupie.

So, it's a good thing that THE MAGNETS have once again returned to the Adelaide Fringe! In our third year returning to the show (can you tell we already have a bias towards these boys), we strapped ourselves in for another high-energy performance by internationally renown, acapella and vocal harmony supergroup, The Magnets.

Pulling inspiration from Adelaide's 40-degree heatwave, the five 'magnets' certainly heated up the Wonderland Spiegeltent at Gluttony. Bringing the audience on a melodic journey including our favourite artists like Prince, Johnny Farnham, Chaka Khan, and Soft Cell, the show had the entire audience singing along, tapping their feet, and even dancing in their seats!

The Naked 80s is a performance you won't forget purely because of how intriguing the vocals are on top of an already stellar musical compositional. We were specifically very impressed with the top-notch skills from group member, Nick, who spat out some virtuosi beatboxing.

The entire show was completely engaging and once again proved to Adelaide why The Magnets are a global phenomenon. The only complaint we had is... we wished it went on for longer!
