Located in the heart of Adelaide Central Plaza, 202 Collective is a fashion hub and collaboration between designers Shiva Novinfar and Colleen Stewart (Addison Ash).

The boutique offers a curated selection of slow ethical fashion from their own labels as well as other independent designers including Shayne Brook the Label, Dark Thorn and Mara Swimwear Australia.

For their amazing first-ever event, attendees had the opportunity to meet and greet, and ask questions and air suggestions to the main ladies in charge, with special offers, clearance racks, and fabulous company!

With special guest appearances from Carly from Dream and Drive Lingerie, Natalie from Basal the label, Shiva from Shiva Novinfar, and Colleen from Addison Ash, the Adelaide fashion community talked all things design, creation, slow fashion at the 202 Collective launch.

Adelaide has a new sound; one that's been making waves nationally with their recent appearance at the ARIA Awards in Sydney.

G-NAT!ON is here! And these girls are ready to add some spice (girls) to the (little) mix of the music industry in Australia.

Releasing their first-ever single, ‘Girls Night Out’, G-NAT!ON artists Taylah Silvestri, Alessia Musolino, Isla Ward, Emma Caporaso, Mateja Sardelis, and Rylee Vormelker, the track is about the importance of just having fun with our girlfriends.

"Girls are constantly facing societal pressures, but we want everyone to know that boys don’t have to be one of them,” says G-NAT!ON performer, Emma.

The ‘Girls Night Out’ music video captures the raw talent that these six pop artists possess. With a combination of unique, powerful vocals and dance moves that would make J-LO smile, this girl band is ready to climb the charts.

“We want to show every girl out there that dreams do come true! Girls are capable of achieving anything, so its time to stand together and support our sisters” says G-NAT!ON singer, Taylah.

For your chance to see G-NAT!ON live in action, make sure to attend this year's Carols By
Candlelight on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at Elderpark.

Wow, just over a week to go and I realised I haven't even blogged about SAFFW.

The weekend is something I'm so proud of. I've always been deeply invested in growing the culture of our city and now I'm actually a part of something that's making that happen.

In Adelaide, it's very easy to feel small, to feel like you're alone and sometimes, to feel like people are out there waiting for you to fail. One thing I've learned this year is that we do all fail, we make mistakes, we look back and wish we did better on the things we care about.

And after understanding that going all-in, that really committing to following my dreams was the only option I had - I joined Creative Director, Katelyn Ellery, on our journey of putting on Adelaide's biggest South Aussie exclusive weekend of fashion events.

Please read my media release below for all the details ;)

The South Australian Fashion Focus Weekend (SAFFW) is excited to officially announce the launch of its 2019 program. The highly anticipated weekend is set to take place across a three-day period with a highly curated selection of various fashion-forward events, including the Next-Gen Industry Mixer, Fashion in the Port Runway Production and concluding with the Adelaide community renowned Creative Lifestyle Market and Designer Showcase.

The weekend features a myriad of designer brands and speaking opportunities from industry professionals; every single person, brand, and business being from South Australia.

Hosted by Ellery Events Australia (Social Network Gatherings, Marina Pier Markets, Rundle Place Style By Me), the national fashion events company is working with local designers, artists, small business owners, and creatives to provide a platform for the local Adelaide fashion industry to thrive.

SAFFW Creative Director, Katelyn Ellery, has spearheaded some of our state’s biggest community-oriented fashion events, adding SAFFW to their expanding portfolio that has grown on the basis of championing SA as a state of fashion and creativity.

“The South Australian Fashion Focus Weekend was the clear next step for SA’s fashion events. To be able to create an opportunity for local designers, models, and creatives to get involved in a professional fashion event that provides a platform for them to thrive with an accessible entry point, we’re aiming to re-energise the fashion industry with small business in mind.”

“Never before has there been an event like this, run by a team of volunteers that’s by the people, for the people. We’re seeking to shake up the status quo and create educational and showcase opportunities for our Adelaide fashion community.”

It’s the most fabulous time of the year: and no, we don’t mean Christmas (wonderful, yes - but far from fabulous). Guys, gals and non-binary pals, hold onto your wigs: Feast Festival has officially returned to frolic in Adelaide and is bigger, better and more fabulous than ever before!

This year, Feast Festival is proud to introduce Pridevember: a month-long celebration of all things queer: from LGBTIQ+ cabaret, comedy and theatre, to music, film and community events (just to name a few).

As someone who is a member of the queer community (#bipride), The Iconic Blonde was invited to attend the Feast Festival VIP Launch on Thursday 7 November at the David Roche Foundation, where we were lucky enough to get a taste of the fabulous frivolities that lie in store this Feast Festival.

The pristine marble-tiled halls of the Fermoy House along North Adelaide’s picturesque Melbourne Street provided the perfect venue for an equally fabulous launch evening. Established in 1999 by the late David Roche AM, The David Roche Foundation is home to a vast collection of exceptional art, antiques and “objets d’art” accumulated by avid collector Mr. Roche himself.

Hosted by Feast Festival’s General Manager Helen Sheldon, the VIP Launch was held in the extravagant Roman Room amongst statues of scantily clad men (think the Statue of David and his wee little package). The front hallway had been transformed into a makeshift bar, where local legends Bickfords were serving free-flowing bubbly as roaming canapes made their way around the expansive halls.

To help celebrate the launch in spectacular style, countless special guests took to the podium to show their solidarity and support for Feast. Making an appearance on behalf of South Australian Premier Steven Marshall, The Honourable David Pisoni MP, Minister for Innovation and Skills gave an educational speech on the history of LGBTIQ+ legislation in South Australia.  Warm words of welcome were also given by The David Roche Foundation’s Museum Director Robert Reason and Feast Festival AM and Producer Margie Fischer.

To wrap up the launch on a comedic note, we were joined by Feast Festival’s latest and greatest ambassador and social media sensation Christian Hull, who also took the opportunity to shamelessly self-promo his role as Ringmaster in the Feast show Carnival: Feast Festival’s Opening Night Party which popped O F F on Saturday 9 November at the Migration Museum.

A kiss on each cheek goes out to Feast Festival for inviting us to celebrate the launch of Feast Festival and Pridevember, which officially kicked off on November 9 and will be sticking around until November 24. Be sure to check out Feast Festival’s program of thrills and frills here and show your support to local, interstate and international LGBTIQ+ artists and performers.

Thank you to James Landseer from Feast for the invite to this spectacular event.

Since I was a little girl, I've always swooned over the idea of a masquerade ball. A glamorous and mysterious evening, full of beautiful gowns and overflowing flutes of champagne.

My dream of this ball is coming true... THIS SUNDAY! The only difference? This amazing event is being run purely for charity. To bring awareness in support of Dyslexia Awareness foundation Code it Read - Light it Red.

The evening provides all guests with a three-course gourmet meal and a five-hour drinks packages, all the while being thoroughly entertained with glitz, glamour, raffles, and auctions! (I know where my pay packet is heading this week... woops!). With prizes like J'adore gowns and Ashlee Lauren accessories, this is the only chance over the long weekend to snap up some fashion while supporting Light it Red.

Tickets are only $130 which is well worth the night that is built off a foundation of giving and charity.

Make sure you purchase your tickets ASAP, as ticket sales close on the 1st of October. Come and support an amazing charity - while having an incredible night out. Just don't forget your mask!

Everyone has their guilty pleasures: chocolate, vodka, pimple-popping videos. For me, it’s British historical period dramas, and there’s one that well and truly trumps them all: Downton Abbey.

Charming Yorkshire accents, handsome gentlemen looking as dapper as ever in their tailored suits, and a wickedly sassy Maggie Smith: what more could you possibly ask for in a tv show? Well, more than six seasons would have been nice!

Downton Abbey’s mischievous creator Julian Fellowes brought audiences to their knees begging for more after airing the season finale on Christmas Day of 2015. And almost five years later, our wishes have finally been granted with the release of a Downton Abbey full feature-length film!

Set amongst majestic Downton Abbey itself in the peak of the roaring 20s, the new flick is a continuation of the television series yet can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone film by fans both new and old.

Paying homage to its roots, the film begins just as the show did: with a letter making its way from being hand penned on a desk in central London to being hand delivered by a butler to the privileged Crawley family. And low and behold, the contents of this particular letter spark the start of the film’s tumultuous storyline: King George V and Queen Mary are coming to visit Yorkshire, and the ever so prestigious Downton Abbey has the honour of hosting them overnight.

What ensues is two hours of scintillating scandals, exposing revelations and good old-fashioned tomfoolery. It’s game, set and match as the Downton Abbey staff are pitted against the royal housekeeping personnel in a bout of competitive chaos to determine who has the right to wait on the royal family. Maggie Smith makes a triumphant return with her unforgettable witty repartee and “frenemy” feuding antics with Baronness Merton Isobel Grey, whose character is injected with new life and sarcastic banter by none other than Penelope Wilton. Michelle Dockery continues to add depth and dimension to Lady Mary Crawley, as audiences explore her relationship with Downton Abbey itself (it’s so much more than just a building – it’s a character in and of itself!) and the future fate of the family legacy. Beloved characters such as the silently sultry Thomas Barrow (Rob-James Collier), ditsy Joseph Molesley (Kevin Doyle) and all-seeing Charles Carson (Jim Carter) also make a return, donning their coattails and penguin suits to join Daisy (Sophie McShera) and Mrs Patmore (Lesley Nicol) in the bustling basement staff quarters.

Longtime fans of the series: prepare to be swept away in a sea of nostalgia as you are reunited with characters (both beloved and despised) and welcomed home as you are ushered through those ever so familiar Abbey halls. Relive the memories of when you first delved into the world of Downton all over again, and why not introduce (or convert) someone new to the original show while you’re at it. After almost ten years since first going to air, Downton Abbey remains a timeless classic to this day, proving that British period dramas are guilty pleasures that well and truly never go out of style.

The future face of make-up is here.

Lucy Make-up Artistry is the Queen of Sheen (okay, the Adelaide Queen of highlighter - and that's a FACT).

Painting faces beating the haus down boots and slaying make-up to the gawds yes mama (okay, I'll stop), Lucy Makeup Artistry has become one of the most well-known MUA's in Adelaide with her mix of ballsy looks and strategic social media marketing that has won her the hearts of thousands of locals.

To celebrate her business success and officially launch her boujee AF website, Lucy hosted someone of Adelaide's elite to join her in a "Look and Learn" event, where we were able to witness first hand how to achieve that dewy summer kissed look that Lucy's made so famous over the years, and to celebrate the launch of her website, which in turn include new services like her 'Girls Night Group Workshop' and 'Pro Artist 1 on 1 Workshop' at the gorgeous venue, Piccoli Piatti.

As well as her amazing workshops and MUA services, she also sells the most incredible array of hair clips that are so ~on trend~ right now.

In the last year and a half, Lucy has worked with many, breaking into the fashion industry in Adelaide whilst also growing a clientele for event and bridal beauty.  She began working from Style Hutt Hire, a dress hire boutique located in Somerton Park in October 2018. This opportunity has enabled Lucy Alice Artistry to grow further by providing her clients with a convenient and accessible place to get their glam on.
