TRUTH OR DARE FILM REVIEW

Written by Ashlee Dignon
From the production company that brought us the Paranormal Activity franchise, Ouija and more recently Insidious: The Last Key; Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare is classic youth horror flick that takes our favourite childhood past time of the same name and twists it into a supernatural game that leads five archetypal teens on a Spring break they will never forget.
Staring Pretty Little Liar’s Lucy Hale as Olivia, she is pressured to quit her Spring volunteer job and join her best friend Markie (Violett Beane) on a trip to Mexico that quickly turns into a fight for their lives.
The film offers the audience some successful instances of suspense intertwined with some otherwise predictable ones. In essence, Truth or Dare was Final Destination meets Gossip Girl
The occasionally cringe worthy dialog and plot were sold well by the three likeable lead actors however, as the movie came to an end I couldn’t help but think that the cliches in this pop-horror movie had been done to death.
Truth or Dare was released in cinemas as of the twelfth of this month accompanied by a PG rating and will most likely appeal to the majority of it’s target audience. Overall a fun and creative premise with quality production.
