Sfera’s Park Suites and Convention Centre is one of Adelaide’s leading accommodation and wedding venues. They specialise in wedding receptions, ceremonies, events, functions and also offer accommodation. The Adelaide venue has recently opened their Paradiso Cocktail Bar, offering a range of Mediterranean dishes and unique cocktails.

The Paradiso Cocktail Bar is one of the newest additions to Sfera. We recently attended the launch night, which involved an evening filled with food and cocktails, overlooking the picturesque parklands.  Pre-event sangrias and tapas were enjoyed at Sfera’s Boca Chica Bar, before making our way down to Paradiso.

We were treated to a whole spread of Mediterranean flavours, along with some unique cocktails and other delicious treats. The Hidden Treasure Cocktail was a sweet surprise. Served in a seashell, inside a treasure chest, this tantalising concoction had my taste buds dancing with aromatic flavours of Frangelico, cinnamon, blue vodka, and milk. The new bar has all of your favourites, along with some exclusive additions, so be brave and try something new. Why not pair your drink with a Sicilian Lemon Tart with Double Cream or a Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Bean Ice cream? All desserts and cocktails are just $9 every Friday.

Paradiso features natural light with picturesque parkland views, a foliage floral chandelier, and an illuminated private bar. Delicately enhanced with German wallpaper, this intimate space is the perfect location for a wedding reception or casual drinks with the girls. 30 - 70 guests can enjoy a cocktail affair in this inviting space, or you can seat up to 50 guests for a function style setting.

Open the doors and find Paradiso today.

Thanks for having us, Michael!

Opening hours are Friday to Saturday from 12:00pm – late, and Sunday from 10:15am – 2:00pm.

Did you know we have some of the most talented designers living with us in South Australia?

If the Curating Chaos UNISA Grad Show is anything to go by, we are officially spoiled for choice when it comes to designers that can deliver design with heart, soul, and most importantly, smarts.

So, why Curating Chaos?

"When we see design, we rarely see the journey. Finished work looks so effortless, despite the chaos that designers experience through the process.

All the scribbles, brainstorming, tiny refinements, late hours, and messy workspaces. Curating Chaos is a reflection of the fluidity, energy, and dynamic nature of the design process and how life is a balance of order and chaos."

You can check out ALL the graduates here
but read on to see a few of my favourite selected artists!

Maria Dizazzo @maria.makesthings

This quirky and mindful designer has a background in Marketing, making her designs not only pleasing to the eye but strategic with intention. Her personal branding of pink and red makes her on-trend, and her personal best-friendship with the author has absolutely zero relation to why she's top of this list.

Ben Neale @neale.design

This multi-talented designer had one of my favourite projects come to fruition. As a practicing designer at Pirate Life Brewery, you can find Ben's recognisable works on the cans of brews sold all over Australia. The fact that a young designer's works are being featured on a great SA businesses product - warms my heart!

Emily Renner @emrennerdesign

Em's modern twist on design breathes fresh air into elements like to-go packaging and corporate logo's. Her "grazengo" packaging design was one of my favourite completed projects from the exhibition - making me want to buy one on my way out!

Hamish Cock @hamishmatthew.designer

As I work day-to-day with media outlets, Hamish's "square mile" typographic website really resonated with me! The modern take on a traditionally cluttered online medium let the words speak for themselves - and when implemented into real usage, would provide a great platform for real journalism, the likes of which we haven't seen in a while.

Astor + Tyne is a proud South Australian urban chic label, designed by Nicola Unwin. The garments can take the wearer from work to dinner with the girls, all while wearing the same outfit.

Made in Australia, through Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA), each garment is designed, sketched and edited right here in Adelaide. There is also a huge focus on the use of natural fibers, quality, and affordability.

We recently got a sneak peek at the High Summer ’19 Collection, during a Parade where new designs and garments were showcased. There was a nice array of soft and neutral colours, with some garments using bamboo and linen fabrics. On the night we also enjoyed a scrumptious grazing table, nicely paired with bubbles too.

Australian based singer/songwriter, Harli, has officially dropped her newest pop/electronic track, Wrecking. The track release comes days after her nomination for Best Electronic Artist at the SA Music Awards.

The writer and vocalist has been able to create the hit Wrecking that has been officially released on Spotify and iTunes today.

The new hit song was written by Harli while she was unwell for a period of time in 2017. What started out as a concept, soon turned into the strong dark-pop/electronic hit that you hear today.

By combining her emotional lyrics and strong vocals with a basic chord progression, the song evolved and was produced by industry-renowned Universal Music Producer, Liam Quinn.

Wrecking was created in a time of my life when I had such little control over my body. I was extremely unwell; my life was at a standstill because my body just couldn’t cope” says Harli.

“I was fascinated about the connection between my mind and my body, and this is where Wrecking was born. I feel the song encapsulates a lucid dream, as my experience felt as though I was halfway between reality and a dreamlike state. As terrible as it sounds, the music I created around this time in my life was some of the best yet”

“This song has such depth to me but brings me so much joy to know where I am now after last year. It’s a special part of my creative songwriting, that I truly hope the listener relates to and can experience the journey with me”

Her new song consists of ethereal beats with an altered dream-state, almost like the listener is being transported into a dream where fantasy and reality collide.

A clear daring and creatively challenging musical direction, you can hear the empowering and extremely emotive darkwave and pop tones throughout her music.

This November, Harli was announced as a finalist in the SA Music Awards alongside well-known names like Motez, Hartway, and Jethro. The only female artist in her category felt honoured to be nominated amongst some of Adelaide’s music greats.

Keep an eye out this November for Harli’s official Wrecking music video release; and her EP Album that is set to be released in 2019.

Make sure you follow Harli on Facebook, Instagram and Spotify to hear her tracks now!

I've had this blog post sitting in my drafts for over a year.

I wrote a huge piece exposing one of the meanest "real-life mean girls" I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with after a fairly clear attempt to derail the things I cared about, and at the time I just didn't know what to do.

Real life mean girls can catch you off guard. To begin with, so many women nowadays are formidable, vivacious and strong-minded spirits, who do their absolute best to build a community where females can flourish in spite of the circumstances we all have to deal with.

That's why it can be so hard to understand the mind and rationale that's behind someone (of any gender), wanting to tear you down so harshly without warrant.

You'd like to think these mean girl antics get left behind in high school, or at least, you leave those people behind in high school. Those girls who were your 'friends' but didn't entirely make you ever feel welcome, especially not with those all too obvious digs at your looks/likes/personality/literally anything else that you were too scared/nice to speak up against. But the nastiest 'mean girls' aren't the ones I had to deal with in my high school halls, they're the ones I've met through just being my (sometimes a little too fabulous) self.

Some people will fill their evenings pulling apart who you are to whoever will listen, some will feel the need to comment on every positive thing you have in your life to make it seem meaningless, and some will engage sarcastically on social media like you're the set-up and the punchline.

But sometimes I need to remind myself, that what people say about me is none of my business.

Because as much criticism and negativity people can throw at you, they're the ones drowning themselves in these thoughts. They've got the stones in their pockets that they're throwing at you to make themselves feel lighter so they don't get swallowed whole.

They're mean because there's a lot more darkness hiding beneath the sparkles they paint on their face to disguise their pain. They see you in the light, and the devil on their shoulder believes tearing you in half is the only action they can take to justify why their spotlight isn't following them right now.

So, for anyone who's felt like responding to bad behavior when your emotional, or namechecking a bitch on Facebook to start some messy drama; take some time to gather yourself, and when you've come to terms with no matter how hard they try to get to you, there's absolutely no lasting impact on their actions other than chipping your ego for a couple of days. Make the right decisions after the dust has settled.

My advice? Be a formidable, vivacious and strong-minded woman... and show them some pity and love.

My reaction when I hear that people don't like me

I try my hardest to be a genuine person while supporting local businesses, while working the room at events, and when mentoring young women knowing what they want but not knowing where they should start. And because of those aforementioned high school mean girl days, I try my absolute hardest to make people feel included, valued, and happy when they're around me.

These mean girls will give petty excuses for why they don't like you, they can't look you in the eye when you're in the same room, they'll go out of their way to badmouth you to the closest open ear. And these actions speak more of them than they do of ourselves.

This post sat in my drafts for over a year for a reason. When dealing with mean life real girls there will be tears and fears that follow, but ultimately these people all have one thing in common.

It's more likely their problems don't lie with you, but with their own hearts.

And for the person who this post was originally about:

You've spent a lot of time thinking about me, stalking me, and obsessing over me on social media, to only be an unnamed character appearance in MY leading-lady Broadway stage show. You were the only one interested in playing that game a year ago and I think it's pretty obvious to both of us who has been bitten by the karma bug since. I don't know you enough to hate you. I don't know you enough at all to have any strong opinions about you.

But I know things are hard for you right now, and if you ever wanted to talk (to apologise I'd assume), I'd listen. Because unlike you, I believe the best in people.

So all that time ago, last year after finding out what this person had done to me. Do you know what I did?

Nothing.

And it was the best decision I made all year.

Okay to be fair, nothing besides... talking to my girls about it, increasing my support system, re-focusing my goals, reassuring myself that things were going to work out anyway, ignoring any jabs that were hurled at me (literally ignoring elbow jabs in nightclubs), and setting the story straight to anyone who was lied to initially. Because there IS shit you can control, so get out there and be the best, baddest bitch that I know you already are.

Lots of Love,

The Iconic Blonde xx
