Jeromaia Detto: Giuseppe's Love Quest - Adelaide Fringe Review

Giuseppe Alfresco is a strange Italian beach boy on a doomed, delightful quest for love, and when he can’t work out how to find it, he turns to the audience for guidance. It’s endearing, interactive, and the kind of show that reminds you we all need to remember how to play.

The sweetest part is what bubbles up from the crowd. Everyone’s version of love slips into the room, and suddenly the show becomes a little communal, a little earnest, and a lot funnier. What is love to you, dear reader? Giuseppe keeps taking big swings at romance, trying to feel something, anything, from the prospective romances around him, and repeatedly coming up empty. But like any great lover, he’s brave enough to get back on the love horse after a fall.

And honestly, he’s a catch. Semi-bi-lingual, sharply dressed, and confidently anti-French. By the end you’re not just watching a love quest, you’re rooting for it.
