AMY, AMY, AMY FRINGE REVIEW

13 Mar 2018

Drag? Amy Winehouse? OTT memoirs of a drug addled, dopamine seeking diva that will live in our hearts forever? Ding, ding, ding!

Amy, Amy, Amy not so tactfully explores the life of Amy Winehouse and her *spoilers* ultimate demise.

Neatly tucked into Distill, this performance transforms you to a London dive bar (or appropriate gutter you'd see the raven haired singer perched in during her hey day). Hosted by a leggy drag-Amy in a wig that hits the roof she's accompanied by an extraordinary band that sets the scene for an impressive tribute to the Rickstasy loving Soul singer.

Large lightbulb lit letters sprawl across the set behind Amy as she chats and sings about her rise to fame, and troubles with alcoholism and drug addiction leading to her passing at only 27 years of age.

I was personally impressed with the team behind Amy, Amy, Amy and how they we're able to deliver a quirky, underground artistic performance for a quirky, underground artist taken before her time. The band complimented the performance to an eccentric Amy that will not be going to Rehab any time soon.
