Young Franco DJ set - Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review

One thing about the Adelaide Fringe? You never really know where the night will take you.

And somehow, on a random Friday, I found myself at the Young Franco DJ set - I was not entirely sure who Young Franco was, but was very much ready to find out... That’s the magic of the Fringe, right? You roll with it, glitter on your face and good vibes in the air, and let the night unfold.

The party kicked off at The Fantail, Gluttony’s open-air music arena that knows how to host a large-scale and encaptivating. Young Franco’s tour, celebrating his debut album It’s Franky Baby, was less “sit back and watch” and more “get up and move” - and the crowd did just that.

Think vibrant visuals, big energy, a sea of Fringe fanatics ready to dance, and enough bass to shake the confetti out of your hair. It wasn’t just a DJ gig that I was expecting, it was a full-on rave-style dance party under the stars right in the middle of Adelaide’s most iconic festival playground.

From “Who’s Young Franco?” to “I’m Obsessed”

I’ll be honest - I’d never heard of Young Franco before this. I bought the tickets on a whim (classic me), then frantically roped my boyfriend Joel in to join last-minute when one of our friends pulled out. He quite literally did an outfit change in under two minutes post-work and met me in Gluttony minutes before the show started.

Neither of us expected a full-blown DJ set with a pulsing crowd and a rave atmosphere, but that’s exactly what we got - and it was kind of perfect. (To be completely honest, Joel has no idea what he was walking into... and thought it was a stand-up comedy set. Big kudos to him for going with the Fringe fun that I threw at him!).

Special Guest: KAH-LO

A real Fringe surprise moment? Kah-Lo appeared as a special guest on the mic - yes, that Kah-Lo, of the absolute banger ‘Fake ID’ fame. Hearing her perform live gave the whole event an electric boost. After having that song on repeat for our car trips over summer, it was one of those “wait, is this really happening right now?” moments that was the cherry on top of an unexpected Fringe night.

Final Thoughts

✅ Big energy
✅ Unexpected thrills
✅ Surprise guest appearances
✅ A killer soundtrack to dance the week away

The takeaway? If something catches your eye during Fringe - even if it’s not your “usual” vibe or you don't know what you're going to be getting yourself into - go anyway. Because you might just find yourself, like me, mid-dancefloor in Gluttony, woo-girling and waving your hands in the air as the lights fade out.
