The Adelaide Fringe is officially in full swing, and one of the hottest tickets this season (literally, with the amount of fire in this show!) is Limbo The Return. This show has been thrilling audiences worldwide for years, and after a five-year hiatus, it’s back and ready to set The Garden of Unearthly Delights alight once more.
Created by Strut & Fret (the geniuses behind Blanc de Blanc), Limbo is a high-energy, genre-defying mix of cabaret, circus, acrobatics, and live music. It’s the kind of show that leaves you gasping one minute and dancing in your seat the next. And let’s be honest, if it’s good enough for Madonna (who’s apparently seen it twice), it’s good enough for us Adelaidians.

A Tighter, Punchier Limbo
Having seen Limbo in previous years, this year’s iteration felt slicker, sharper, and even more polished. While many of the incredible cast have returned, a few new faces bring fresh energy, and the show itself has been tightened up to keep the pacing snappy. There’s less downtime, more excitement, and a flow that makes the high-energy stunts even more jaw-dropping.
Expect fire-eating, tap dancing, gravity-defying pole acts, and some seriously bendy, bouncy acrobatics. (I don’t know how these performers have spines that allow for this, but I respect it.) One of my favourite acts? That terrifyingly tall flexible pole act, which had me clutching my champagne in fear.
I had the pleasure of seeing Limbo with Gavin Potter from Fresh FM, where we were treated to a little pre-show champagne and VIP photos with the cast (a touch of Fringe luxury never hurt anyone!).
After the show, I grabbed Gavin for a quick chat, and we both agreed - Limbo The Return is as thrilling as ever, with just enough new surprises to make a repeat visit worth it.
Gavin’s thoughts? “It’s different from last year - new acts, fresh energy, but still that same wild Limbo magic.”
His favourite moment? “That pole act! Terrifying but amazing. And the live music? Just beautiful.”

Should You See Limbo This Year?
If you’ve never seen Limbo before - RUN (in heels). Go. Immediately. It’s the perfect Fringe spectacle that blends heart-pounding stunts with slick cabaret vibes.
If you’re a past fan and have been before - you’ll still love it! There are new acts, but the core of Limbo remains the same.
Either way, Limbo The Return is one hell of a ride, and I’m so glad it’s back. If you see it, let me know your thoughts! Are you a Limbo newbie, or are you back for another round?
