The 2025 It List: Ins and Outs for the year ahead

2025, what? How?! We're already about 3 weeks into the new year and I'm still writing 2024 when updating my content calendars.

You know what? I am really excited for what the year ahead holds. The start of a new year just screams the perfect time to refresh, refocus, and reset priorities. For 2025, I think it’s all about making the time to actually invest in your wellness, embracing authentic connections, and ditching the habits that don’t serve you anymore (and haven't for a long time). Let’s deep dive into what’s going to shape our year ahead - and what’s getting left behind.

What's In

Weekend Morning Coffees with Friends (Exploring Your Third Place)

It’s time to say hello to your third place - that cozy café, lush park or afternoon social bar where you can meet your friends and swap stories during a hot girl walk, over iced lattes or pre-martini order. Weekend mornings are made for doing the little things well and meaningful endeavors, not rushed errands. Prioritise these moments – they’re going to set your wider week up for success and slowly build towards a rich life for years to come.

Unfollowing Accounts That Only Post Ads

Curation is self-care. This year, your social media should be a place that sets the tone for your day-to-day, not to sell you another unnecessary subscription or product that looks cute, but you’ll never use. Follow creators who inspire, educate, or make you laugh, and don’t be afraid to hit the unfollow button on accounts where every post screams sales pitch. Your feed should feel like a hub of art and connection, fashion and fun - not a late night 90s infomercial.

Connection (aka, Less Social Anxiety)

This year, we’re focusing on deep, meaningful connections. Approaching conversations expecting the best from people and doing our best not to tear ourselves apart afterward. Investing in the moment and the conversation you’re having will only ensure that you can be proud that you’ve done right by yourself.

Using Google Lens to Find That Outfit You Screenshotted

The fashion future is here, and it’s powered by tech. Do you have a screenshots album full of fits you adore, but have no idea where it’s from? Enter Google Lens, your new shopping BFF. Find exactly what you’re looking for - or a chic dupe - without the endless scrolling. It’s timesaving, stylish, and oh-so-smart.

What's Out

Stalking Your Ex’s Ex’s
Let’s collectively retire this 3 am rabbit hole. 2025 is about you, not them. Redirect that energy into something more empowering - like stalking a good book (otherwise known as reading) or finding new accounts to flood your feed with insights.

Reacting (Instead of Responding)

Hot takes and knee-jerk reactions are for your early 20s. This year, it’s all about responding with thought and intention. Whether it’s an email from work or a heated group chat, take a breath, reflect, and reply from a place of calm. You’re allowed to take a step back and approach things when you’re in a mindset that actually reflects who you are.

Buying Lotto Tickets

Glamourising ‘quick wins’ is out; investing in long-term growth is in. Instead of chasing luck, pull yourself together and go through your expenses, transaction by transaction (it’s painful), but start to get visibility over your financial position. Use that money you would have spent on a ticket to deposit into your savings. You’ll be surprised how quick your savings add up when you’re all over how and where your money is being spent.

Hangovers

The party girl era has matured, and this year we’re prioritising balance over benders. Swap endless tequila shots for sunset spritzers, diet coke dates or dinners. You’ll wake up clear-headed and ready to take on the day (bonus: no hangxiety!).

Holding Onto Resentment From People From the Past

Old grudges? Oh, so not 2025. It’s time to Marie Kondo your emotional baggage. Forgive, release, and move on - not for their sake, but for yours. Letting go looks good on you.
